Alas.

I woke up on Thursday morning, late at 11am, wondering how the hell time is going to pass. Yet it is before long I realise my day is packed and I am more busy and occupied than I ever imagine.

I went out at 13 30, hoping to collect the movie tickets early, worried about the fallibility of phone booking, even more concerned about Kawai’s ability to watch a NC16 movie. By some miracle, things actually went smoothly and we manage to catch an excellent movie. Meet the Fockers is more of a comedy, with jokes more associated with sex I guess. But nevertheless, it serves its purpose – providing entertainment. Besides Kawai, Dawn, linette and her friend (I couldn’t quite call her name, it’s sth qing) are present. I could not help but wonder why people bother to shave and yet wear a cap to shield it from public viewing. I doubt I’ll ever do that, I mean having my hair cut so short. I reckon my mother will slain me if I do that. I can’t imagine myself bald anyway, but I doubt I’ll ever use hair tonic again though. I thought Dawn still looks nice with shorter hair, despite her claims of otherwise in her blog, but I must say she looks better with long hair though. Linette, as usual, looks possibly stunning. Anyhow, I enjoy myself that afternoon, though speak little, perhaps it’s the presence of people I do not know well. The usual me.

Later I went for the PCS 6A 2000 gathering. It isn’t as bad as I thought, but I am amazed of the changes, physically and mentally. I remain quiet though, preferring to contain myself and just look and observed the people I once called classmates. I guess the TV occupied me pretty much, but I’m pretty happy to see my teachers – Mr Hoo and Miss Phua. The former, my Chinese teacher, looks as healthy as ever, perhaps still spend his leisure time on bonsai. The latter looks older, but relatively young and joyful. A delicated teacher, whom I’ll have never-ending respect for.

In the midst of the class gathering, I’m mighty glad that I did not miss the last episode of Bi Xue Jian. I am always impressed with the works of Jin Yong and I reckon I’ll kill myself if I miss it. Somehow, Chinese history is always so amazing, the fall and rise of Dynasties, monarchy involving kings eager for power and women. I watch as how Chongzhen got overthrown by LiZiCheng, who promise of good fortune and wealth to his people. Yet under his rule, sufferings of people are worse than ever. Indeed in the power struggle, the people are the ones who suffer the most. Power corrupts after all. Does it really matter whether the ruler is a Han or Manchu? Both are man, and a human ruler in his sin and folly can only grant chaos and sufferings to his people. For Man is self-centred, it is only God as King can peace and joy be restored. Man has create several ways of government, thinking that it’ll lead to happiness. But are they not failed attempts? Look at China, the perfect example of monarchy, and after so many hundred years, there is still corruption and dying of the poor. Look at America, the country of democracy, the way Bush and Kerry slander each other to gain the favour of people, the hypocritical personality they portray through their actions. Sadly, the crime rate of America is still one of the highest. So much for good governance. As for communism, North Korea seems to be struggling and her people are simply in agony. Behold, the sinfulness of Man!
